Cargill won Amcham CSR partnership award
Shanghai - Cargill won Amcham Shanghai’s CSR partnership award at the 3rd annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) conference in Shanghai held by American Chamber of Commerce Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai). This award is to recognize the collaborative CSR program created through the partnership between Cargill and SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise).
Cargill and SIFE impressed the judges for their multi-level cooperation, which included mentoring, judging, funding and strategic guidance. SIFE is a non-profit organization active in more than 40 countries, supports more than 70 university teams in China. SIFE projects challenged students to develop community outreach projects that promote sustainable development in struggling communities, while building social consciousness and practical experience among China's next generation of leaders. Cargill sponsored and cooperated with SIFE to expand SIFE’s programs to universities in China.
The AmCham Shanghai annual Corporate Social Responsibility Awards were launched in 2005 as a method for recognizing Shanghai-based companies operating exceptionally effective CSR programs. The winning programs were selected via a rigorous review process conducted by AmCham Shanghai and the Chamber CSR Committee. By drawing attention to these organizations, the Chamber aims to acknowledge corporate CSR successes, and to provide a model for other organizations looking to expand their community outreach efforts.
